Hello Movie Review : What others say

Posted on 11 October, 08

Hello based on Chetan bhagat’s novel one night at call center is releasing this weekend , movie is highly anticipated as it pairs Salman and Katrina and is based on a superthit novel. There are few movies in Bollywood  which are based on successful novels. Lets see how critics have fared Hello.

Star Cast :
Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sharman Joshi, Sohail Khan, Gul Panag ,Isha Koppikar , Amrita Arora , Arbaaz Khan

Direction :
Atul Agnihotri

Synopsis  :

Hello is a narration of Katrina to Salman (playing a rockstar) on the condition that he will make a movie out of the story , story is about 6 people working in a call center and the problems they are facing and how there life is changed when God calls them up one night. Salman and Katrina is playing a cameo so there fans will be disappointed.

Good and Bad :

Since Hello is based on a superhit novel so I am expecting lot of goodies lets see how critics have fared it.
As per TOI movie is bit overboard and to quote them

Sadly, God’s pep talk ends up as boring sermonising, while the film slips from intermittent smartness to overriding sloppiness.

Acting wise Sohail and Sharman  has come out winner and are watchable.

Buzz18 has also praised the roles of all the actors and especially Sharman and liked the humor of Hello giving credit to the Director for this and there were few scenes and chemistry which stood out .

There are glitches in the movie and movie is not strictly based on the novel and narration of the movie is not as great as the novel.

Verdict :

TOI has given 2/5 rating

Buzz18 has given rating of 2.5/5 and to quote them.

Those who haven’t read the book may find it really interesting while those who have may not really find it that bad. At least it makes a better watch than some films that are still floating around.

Indiafm has given rating of 1/5 .

Sify has given rating of 1/5 .

Overall movie looks watchable and I will surely go if not this week then next week.

arrey no the book is really nice.. some things have been changed in the movie.. it could have been better.. though it could not be as detailed as it is in the book.. but anyway.. it was a good attempt.. n many pple who have not read the book will now definitely go and read it.. Good work.. :) but again i would say the book is anyday better.. u’ll have to read the book first to get familiar with the characters.. n the book was nice because once u know whats gonna happen next u do expect a lot out of it… which unfortunately cannot fit into the time span of two and a half or three hours. well it was a nice attempt though.. Good Luck Chetan Bhagat.. n God Bless You…!!! :)

I definitely agree with Jyoti….the book is really nice than what u watch in the movie…but still a good try….there r things changed a bit in the movie but i felt the star cast could have made things much better to put live into the characters….while reading the book u get close to the characters n get involved with them but this doesnt happens while watching the movie….this doesnt mean that the movie is not good…may be the book was already read n so knowing the story before hand must have made me to write this….but u can say it as a good move…Keep it up n All the best MR. Chetan Bhagat!!!

well i went to watch the movie after reading horrible reviews in Hindustan times,TOI etc only becos i loved the book and also as i like chetan very much.but the film wasnt that bad to me.infact it was quiet good.sharman was v good.so was sohail(surprisingly).the girls were also quite good.so was the boss and military uncle.salman and katrina were on cameos.though i thought katrina’s potrayal as God cud hav been more dramatic.the music and songs were a punishment to the ear.it was disgusting to say the least.overall 3/5 film.i think people who havent read the book wud like it more as they dont know the story prior to watching the movie.i also wonder how the film would hav turned out if the story was narrated thru the eyes of sharman as in the movie.

Just saw Hello . I haven’t read the novel so watched the Hello without any expectation. Hello is based on novel and couldn’t figure out what is so much fuss about the novel .

Hello is so so with some good performances . I found the change in characters life after call from God hilarious as if characters has taken some energy drink then got a call from God because they had become more energetic and got total control for some time also I couldnt figure out how come so many things can go wrong with so many people at same time anyway Hello is a masala movie so what more you can expect.

All in all Hello is another bollywood masala and no classic as novel .

Hello is a class movie. Today many youngsters like me work in the BPO industry and it is more of a portrayal of our own lifestyle. I liked the movie so much that I recommended everyone else to watch it. Not a part of the movie is boring, it keeps you engrossed and all the characters are well played. It is certainly a better movie compared to the other ones which feature top hero and heroins and run merely on publicity stunts. I would give it 4/5.

I saw Hello n found it quite OK. It wasnt boring at any stage. As am an ardent reader of Chetan Bhagat novels, I very much wanted to see how the story looked on the silver screen. All characters were fine and movie was good. Dont know why reviews were shouting bad about it. May be there are so many D-rona lovers who just cant see any other movie doing good…..

I have only one complaint-If they had not changed the story’s baseline……I mean if Salman was shown as a simple writer on a Train(as in the book…one night@), it would have been much better. Overall I would give 3/5 to HELLO.

For the first three quarters, the movie is interesting. There are twists and turns which make you wanna watch it through the end. The ending is rather bizarre, fast and very very typical of Bollywood style films. That was a disappointment.

Using the boss’s computer to send a harassment e-mail to an employee was lame.

I watched this movie with ‘zero expectations’. That’s what you do when it is a Sallu starrer (at least from promos it seemed that Sallu was in lead role). Our Sallu bahi did not do any of his usual pagal-panti… but his bro filled in the shoes very well… smashing canteen tables and the works !!

All n all the movie is okay (considering the zero expectations to start with). Gul Panag is cute. Once watchable on small screen!

btw is was more of Khan-family drama… Sallu-Kat, Sohail bhai, Arbaaz bahi with his Saali. I think Malaika used to bring lunch box to the set :)
